Interactive Polar Geometry Based Modeling Approach

Abstract
An interactive method of image-based modeling is presented. The algorithm presented in this paper uses model's parallel lines and characteristic points, which are gained from interactive input, to compute camera's parameters, and further model's geometric information. Texture information is also obtained from the images. Particularly we propose a best image selecting algorithm to ensure proper texture patching. The method is used for construction regular models, and it's easy to use for no camera's intrinsic or extrinsic parameters are required. The experimental results show that it does well in some occasions, and that the models are photo-realistic and capable of real-time walk through.
