Vertex Normal Calculation and Interactive Segmentation of Triangle Mesh

  • A combination of area and vertex angle of surrounding triangles is taken as weight to calculate the normal vectors of triangle mesh vertices. An interactive method for segmenting triangle mesh is also presented to simplify and enhance the flexibility of segmentation process. A complex triangle mesh with arbitrary topology can be efficiently segmented into several needed patches, each patch is homeomorphic to a disk. The results of segmentation would facilitate the further processing of mesh.
