Image Segmentation of Car License Plate Using Morphologic Features

According to the National standard of China, the car plate is in general rectangular in shape, containing 7 characters with the aspect ratio of height to width 2∶1, having a broader spacing from the second to third character etc. These morphologic features are used to guide the image segmentation of car plate under a great variety of light conditions. Tests show that the method is not only simple and fast, but also robust.
