An Improved Real-Time Walkthrough Algorithm Based on Hybrid Geometry and Texture Simplification

  • Objects nearby viewpoint undergo geometric simplification, while faraway objects are rendered by texture mapping. Through the geometric interpolation behind the texture plane, degenerated geometry is produced, thus realizing smooth transition from geometric representation to texture mapping. Concepts of level-of-details are applied to geometry and texture jointly. Examples illustrate the high efficiency of the hybrid approach.
