Abstract
Per-Vertex Lighting has been employed many years in common for real-time rendering. However, as regarding to bump map generation, Per-Vertex Lighting is quite inefficient. In order to render scenes with detailed lighting, a technique of Per-Pixel Lighting has been introduced in recent years based on the technology of newly developed hardware. The concept of Per-Pixel Lighting is first described in comparison with Per-Vertex Lighting. Then the theory on which Per-Pixel Lighting is based, as well as its development are explained. Finally, by an introduction of new platform of hardware, we present our experimental examples on the platform to show the effect of Per-Pixel Lighting.
