Research on Load Control Strategy in Geo-Agents

  • Geo-Agents is an agent-based distributed geographic information system (GIS). The load control strategy in Geo-Agents is presented to balance the overall load of system operation, resulting in maximized throughput of the distributed network. Host load and network load are two main loads in Geo-Agents, and they are interdependent. Host load indicates the number of agents resided on a host, while network load contains two parts: communication among agents and transmission of spatial data. Because spatial information is massive, balancing the network load plays the primary role in Geo-Agents, and balancing host load will be taken into account only after the network load is accordant. Two load control strategies named as agent creating strategy and peer host strategy are applied to control the network load and host load respectively.
