Research on Finding the Intersection of Surface Normal with Tool Swept Volume in Accuracy Verification of Sculptured Surface Machining

  • An efficient algorithm is presented for finding the intersection of vectors with swept volume generated from the five-axis NC milling tool motions. Directional line segment undergoes intersection test with the triangular tessellated facets of the tool swept volume to accelerate the solution. An example is presented to verify the dimensional accuracy of sculptured surface machining.
