Study of CAD Modeling for Reverse Engineering

How to transform the design idea and physical objects into a CAD model rapidly, directly and accurately is a key technique in reverse engineering (RE). It is also a bottle neck in product innovation design and rapid prototyping. After reviewing the state-of-the-art of CAD modeling in RE, some key techniques required further exploration are discussed. Some general approaches and ideas being applied to RE modeling are studied. The progress that authors have made in the related fields are also presented.
