New Advance in the Application of Digital Geometry Processing

A review is given to the development of digital geometry in recent 20 years: from the initial local feature study to global shape study, from the study in different branches to a systematic study, from the engineering-oriented investigation to a systematic study under a standard theoretical framework, and from individual interest to the requirement of applications. The technology accumulation, existing problems as well as future directions in digital geometry processing are outlined.
