New Memory Hierarchies for Network Video-On-Demand

With the widespread of multimedia applications, data storage method becomes a challenging problem because of limited memory and disk-bound. In this paper, we point out the benefit of network memory over magnetic disk, present the design and implementation of using network memory as a faster-than-disk device. It extends the memory hierarchies of computer by introducing a remote memory layer. And also we give a new cache replacement algorithm.As a result of experiment,it can speed up the access of data in multimedia environment.
