A MODEL FOR AUTOMATICALLY CONSTRUCTTNG USER INTERFACE

  • A model for automatically constructing a user interface is presented. This model presents three level views of an interface being constructed. The first level view is a direct manipulation environment, which is called Visual Interface Compiler. In this environment, the interface designer can draw pictures of what the interface should look like and then use the mouse and other input devices to dermonstrate how the interface should be operated. The second level view is a editable textual representation of the interface, called Interface Description Language. The third level view is an interface techniques class supporting libraries and running supporting tools. It constructs the platform for other two level views, and it is designed using object-oriented techniques. Finally, the relations among the three level views are presented, and an example system is also given.
