Research and Development on 3D Reconstruction Based on 2D Engineering Drawing in CAD System

A method is proposed to reconstruct 3D objects from engineering drawings, and its implementation results in a module added into the commercial software Solid 2000. The module can solve various problems in 3D reconstruction, typically the data transformation of DWG files, views separation and view display as a box, feature creation, reconstruction result certification, curve fitting and so on. It utilizes the information in the engineering drawings sufficiently. The module works in an interactive and automatic manner, and performs well for 3D reconstruction.
