A Survey of the Research Works on Parametric Design

Parametric design is a key point to enhance enterprises' ability to innovative design of product. This paper gives a survey of the current works and problems needed to be solved in this field from various aspects, such as different types of parametric model structure, resolving methods, and interactive ways to build models. Traditionally, only geometric elements in 2D drawing and 3D part modeling are mainly focused on in the parametric design process. This paper extends its traditional area, and discusses the parametric design problem for the whole life cycle of product and some related standards.
