Efficient and Effective Texture Spectrum Descriptor

A new texture spectrum descriptor based on texture primitive equivalent is proposed.The texture spectrum depicts the variational pattern of pixel gray scales in a pixel domain to describe image texture feature.Image content is represented in terms of texture spectrum histogram.Experimental results on a general image dataset show that the proposed texture descriptor takes less extraction time and provides higher image retrieval accuracy than Gabor approach in image retrieval.
