Version Classification and Product Version Tracing Model in Configuration Control

The evolution process of the product configuration is divided into three phases，before release，after release and after delivery．In different phases，the relevant configurations are usually managed by development library，controlled library and product library respectively．In this paper，a version classification of the configurations in different libraries is presented，which resolves them into designing，online and product version．And then，the management methods of different versions are explored．Therein，the management of the product version is discussed in detail，and a tracing model of the product version adaptable to the engineering manager and engi-neers is put forward．
