Architecture of Extensible Data Supporting System in Physical Design EDA Development

  • An architecture of extensible data supporting system in EDA tools is proposed in the paper. This system provides data service for physical design integration. As IC design technology goes into VDSM, the physical design process becomes very complex. EDA tools need to be integrated into an efficient design data supporting environment which supports multi-level, multi-iteration, hierarchical design process integration. The design data is represented using XML language in the system, which performs the ultra large, multi-type, multi-level design data representation and processing. The software architecture of this system is presented, and the key issues related, such as data representation, data parse and transform, are discussed in detail.
