Fitting System Using Loop Subdivision Surfaces with Sharp Features

A fitting system is developed to fit triangular meshes using Loop subdivision surfaces with sharp features. The system is based on a method described in reference 15, but it substantially enhances and consummates the original algorithm for practical implementation. The entire framework includes sharp feature extraction, mesh simplification, mesh smoothing, topological optimization, resampling and solution of the fitting system. Experiments demonstrate that the presented system can considerably improve the quality of the fitting surfaces.
