Fast DCT Algorithm for Low Bit-Rate Image Compression

A novel efficient algorithm in 8×82 D DCT by using “basic images” is introduced in the paper.By the algorithm,each DCT coefficient is calculated independently,and only those DCT coefficients for low-frequency transformation in demand of encoding and transmission are calculated,by one step in combination of DCT and quantization together. As a result,the encoding efficiency could be greatly improved.
