Image Based Real-time Walkthrough in Virtual Environment

  • An image-based parallel rendering technology is proposed to achieve rea-l time interactive walkthrough in virtual 3D scene by dividing the image into strip regions.In order to achieve load balancing,sub-tasks are assigned according to the computation capacity of each node. Moreover,by exploiting the coherency of neighboring frames,a communication strategy combining with run length encoded compression algorithm is presented to reduce communication cost.Experiment results show that rea-l time interactive walkthrough with 512×512 image is achieved by employing PC cluster.
