Realistic Facial Modeling Based on Subdivision Srface

  • A new approach is proposed for modeling individualized and photo-realistic 3D human face and morphing between two heads. The approach is based on subdivision surface and two orthogonal photographs.To construct individualized geometric model,mesh optimization and free-form deformation are combined with subdivision to obtain the fine details of individualized models at different resolution levels. Then texture merging and mapping are applied to geometric model to achieve a photo-realistic representation of individualized 3D model of human face.Finally, 3D morphing between two models with the same topology is realized by simple linear interpolation.Experiment results validate our approach and show that it is not only effective in realistic facial modeling but also easy and fast in 3D morphing and therefore has a wide range of downstream applications.
