A Speed-Test System Using Image Recognition

Speed-test system based on plate recognition from CCD images is introduced in this paper. The essential principle in the system is as follows: From two pictures of the same vehicle, the movement speed could be derived by a calculation module. The module fully uses of the size change of the plate, the geometry between the plate and the CCD in the imaging system. The velocity can be calculated without any special hardware, and the error ratio of the recognition is about 5%.
