MUDVE: Implement of A Multi-User Distributed Virtual Environment

An experimental multi-user distributed virtual environment MUDVE is introduced. After analyzing pros and cons of peer-to-peer topology and client-server topology, a new hybrid communication topology is presented, which has the characteristics of low latency and good scalability. The system functions, such as object-oriented data management, dynamic load balancing and user management are discussed. The system also provides functions of information service and resource discovery, which are deficient in the existing DVE systems. Finally the experiment platform is described and the result is shown in grabbed images.
