Quick Customization of Particular Human Face and Muscle-Driven Expression Animation

  • A simple but effective method to simulate particular human face realistically is presented. Provided with frontal and side facial images and a general 3D polygonal facial mesh with muscular vectors, facial feature lines are fitted by Snake automatically. Based on relative displacement between the particular person's feature lines and the general model's, we perform variational interpolation to fit the particular facial geometry. Then, texture mapping is applied to the virtual facial model with facial texture mosaic generated with multiresolution spline. The virtual face can be observed in any direction and can make different expressions by combining different muscular vectors' motion. This method can be realized on PC platform easily and quickly.
