Projection Based Polygonization of Implicit Surfaces

  • Polygonization is the main approach to rendering implicit surface, for the most of graphic systems use built-in hardware to display polygons. We first partition a plane into grids, then map the planar meshes onto implicit surface. Three cases are encountered in the polygon-surface relationship, namely: whole projection, part projection and no projection on the implicit surface. Part projection needs special treatment. This method can be applied to rendering implicit trimmed surface.
