Automatic Generation of Dimension Chains for Auto-Body Dimensional Quality Evaluation

  • A computer based method to generate dimension chains for auto-body assembly is proposed in the paper. By the method, firstly a joint chain model tailored for auto-body is developed with the help of graphical representation of assembly. Then a path search algorithm based on graph theory is developed and performed to find feasible path. The mapping between the feasible path and the member of dimension chain finally helps produce dimension chain of auto-body. The contribution of this method is in facilitating the procedure for the computer-aided compliant assembly variation analysis.
