A Fast Intersecting Feature Check and Detection Approach Based on Persistently Naming Geometric Entities and Its Application

  • Intersecting feature check and detection is a basic problem in feature-based CAD/CAM system. The usual approach checks whether two features are intersecting by performing Boolean operation between feature volumes. In order to avoid using very time-consuming Boolean operations, a new approach based on persistently naming mechanism of geometric entities is proposed. The approach is of high efficiency because it replaces Boolean operation by just checking names of features' faces.
