Torch Path Optimization for NC Laser Cutting of Sheet Metal Part

  • A hierarchical three-step approach is presented to solve the optimization problem. First, an improved nearest neighbor algorithm is applied to select pierce points. Then ant system algorithm is used to solve the optimal cutting path. At last, the former path is adjusted to avoid the torch falling down into the finished cut cavity during its vacancy course. Example and the further research are discussed.
