An Improved Mass-Spring Model Using Surface Mesh

  • A mass-spring model is proposed for real-time elastic deformable modeling.By defining a rigid core for each model and introducing a new type of generalized springs, the surface mesh model can preserve its geometric features such as volume and shape.Shape matching technology is employed to simulate global deformations. At last,an inverse dynamics correction approach is used to correct the “super-elasticity” effect of linear elastic models. The proposed model can provide a fast and visually realistic simulation for elastic deformation of surface mesh models.
