质量退化的车牌字符分割方法

Character Segmentation for Degraded License Plate

  • 摘要: 提出一种车牌字符分割方法.首先,进行光照不均校正、对比度增强和倾斜校正;其次,对字符外轮廓垂直距离采用尺度自适应三次B样条小波变换进行字符的粗分割;最后,应用基于目标占有率模板匹配的字符识别反馈进行字符的精分割.实验结果表明,文中方法对光照不均、对比度较小、倾斜、污迹、字符粘连和断裂等严重退化的车牌图像具有很好的字符分割性能.

     

    Abstract: A license plate character segmentation algorithm, robust to poor images is presented. First, the non-uniform illumination correction, contrast enhancement and incline correction operations are introduced; then, the scale-adaptive cubic B-spline wavelet transform is applied to the outer-contour vertical distance of character regions for coarse segmentation; finally, character recognition feedback with template matching based on object occupancy rate is used for fine segmentation. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is robust in dealing with uniform-illuminated, contrast-poor, declining, dirt, character-touching and character-broken number plates.
