Abstract: In this paper，the aesthetic knowledge representation models and its layout representation method，which are used for creation，are mainly discussed．For the automatic art creation，a representation model of aesthetic knowledge is proposed，and a symbo-l matrix based aesthetic layout method is presented．A representation instance of aesthetic knowledge is given for the automatic creation of 2D art pattern．T his representation instance has been implemented in an experiment system in which art patterns are automatically generated on the basis of synthetic reasoning．
