Abstract: A new method for automatic generation of finite element meshes on arbitrary 2D domain is proposed here by means of improving the node connection method. The method can generate quadrilateral element meshes as well as triangular element meshes effectively. The quality of meshes, particularly of elements on boundaries, can be well controlled, and the local meshes can be refined easily.
