Abstract: This paper describes the characteristics of an engineering workstation, which is considered to be a new computer system consisting of computing, graphics processing and networking. The components and specifications of the engineering workstation are given and the technique advances of its computing unit, graphics processing unit, architecture, etc., are analysed in detail.
