Abstract: This paper investigates the intrinsic nature of assembling, and proposes a representation scheme for assemblies. The data structure consists of MAG, VLRT and CHT,which store the generalized mating graph,virtual link relation tree and component hierarchy tree,respectively. Being congruous with the characteristics of assembling,this scheme structrue is expected to improve the efficiency of position inference, to capture and represent design intent better and to facilitate model editing.
