Abstract:
In this paper, a detail investigation about the feature of data proces sing in finite element and the way to set up a finite element database has been ma de, and a hybrid of network/relation model, obtained by defined foreign key in network model, has been proposed too. Based on this model, a small EDBMS FEDO (Fiaite Element oriented Data Organization) has beea partly developed. The f inish ed components, written in Fortran 77, are composed of a storage-access software HVMMS, a DDL interpreter FEDDL, a DB communication area management system GAMS, a DD management system DDMS, a dynamic sub-schema management system DSSM and DML on network. Its working environment is a Fortran subroutine call, FEDO has the advantage of easily available DDL, powerful processing ability on variable-length record and additive reconstructing. Besides, by being compatible with JINEGS file system, FEDO can treat the large amount of unstructured data appearing in finite element software.
