Abstract: A novel method by integration of a fuzzy synthetic evaluation model and an expert system is proposed to select a rapid prototyping process. The expert system is used to determine the feasible RP alternatives. Subsequently, the most appropriate one can be obtained by the two-stage FSE method. The hierarchical decision model is established based on the AHP method, and the weights of RP evaluation factors are determined by using the entropy method and AHP method. The system is developed by Java technology. Finally, a typical case is given to demonstrate the application of this system. The result shows that the RP process determined by the method is much more accurate and effective.
