Abstract: Limitation from the narrow bandwidth and insufficient reliability of wireless communication are the main bottlenecks in developing mobile GIS for providing spatial information-based services to mobile clients. Service adaptation is a promising solution. An efficient algorithm for adaptive service of point features over wireless net based on grid mode and multilevels of detail of vector data is introduced. An architecture with adaptive policies is proposed, under which ways to realize data adaptations and control adaptations of point features are investigated. Finally, some test experiments are carried out.
