基于改进的MSE准则的小波图像压缩

  • 摘要: 目前,大多数图像压缩算法是在纯粹基于像素值的均方误差(MSE)准则下工作的,由于MSE准则不能很好地刻画图像的边缘和平坦区域的差别,因此按MSE准则进行优化的压缩方法有时难以达到很好的视觉效果.根据人类视觉的特性,小波子带图像的分布特性和子带系数对保存边缘、纹理信息的重要性程度,提出一种改进的MSE准则.实验证明,基于文中改进的MSE准则的小波图像压缩方法可以获得较好的效果,能在低比特率下较完整地保存边缘和纹理信息,重构图像的主观质量有一定程度的提高.

     

    Abstract: Most of the current image compression algorithms work on the purely-pixel-value-based mean square error (MSE) criteria.But MSE criteria can’t describe the difference between the edge and flat area in image.Thus the optimal algorithms based on MSE criteria may not achieve good results.A improved MSE criteria is proposed.Based on the characteristics of the human vision,the new approach takes into consideration the statistical characteristics of each subband and the different effects of subband coefficients on saving the edge and texture information of original image.Experimental results show that this approach can obtain satisfying results,save the edge and texture information well under low bit rate.In addition,the subjective quality of the reconstructed image is improved to some extent.
