Abstract: In accordance with the distribution characteristics of subband coefficients of image coding with wavelet decomposition，an adaptive selective coefficient scan algorithm is proposed．Simulation results show that the algorithm efficiently keeps many visual-sensitive high frequency details of source image and significantly improves the visual quality of the reconstructed image．The algorithm is also prospective in video coding，especially in low bit rate applications．
