Abstract: From analyzing the characteristics of drawing presentation and understanding the contents of AEC working drawings,strategies to extract engineering quantity information from drawings are worked out and applied to budget preparation that offers a new way to integrate CAAD with engineering cost estimation.The key algorithms are discussed with an example.
