VECW: A Virtual Environment Construction and Walkthrough System

摘要: 如何真实地在计算机中表达现实世界是计算机图形学的一个重要研究方向. 基于几何造型和图像绘制混合是一种很有应用前景的方法. 文中在实现前人提出的从建筑物照片中抽取建筑物的几何模型和相应纹理映射的算法的基础上,给出了一个虚拟环境的构造和漫游系统,简称VECW. 该系统支持基于建筑物照片建模和通用的Wavefront模型数据,能对场景中模型的位置和材质编辑,并可以把场景数据输出为虚拟现实造型语言(VRML)文件. 利用该系统可以快速搭建虚拟场景并对其漫游.文中给出的实例说明了该系统的功能.Abstract: In order to represent real world precisely,the hybrid approach using geometric modeling and image-based rendering is promising.Based on the existing algorithms of creating geometric model of buildings with texture mapping from pictures,this paper presents a virtual environment construction and walkthrough system, named VECW. The system supports modeling from photographs and accepts the common model data form of Wavefront.Using the system,users can edit the positions and material properties of models in the scene,and also the lighting environment.Especially,it can save the scene data as VRML file.This system helps to construct a virtual scene conveniently and walkthrough it.Examples illustrate the efficiency of the system.
