Abstract: MPEG-4 has become the new international standard. It defines how to represent and animate the synthetic human faces and bodies. According to the set of FDPs in MPEG-4, this paper applies Dirichlet Free Form Deformation algorithm to refine the generic facial model. The main advantages of the model over former extension of FFDs involve in removing the constraints on control lattice and control points locations. In addition, we have improved the DFFD algorithm to make it more adaptable to the facial deformation.
