Abstract:
This paper discusses the feature of redundant discrete wavelet transform and proposes an irregular triangular mesh design method in wavelet domain for motion compensation in wavelet video codec. By the method, first, based on the principles stated by aperture problem, the horizontal and vertical subbands of redundant discrete wavelet transform are used to calculate the mask for choosing mesh nodes. And secondly, the mesh nodes feature magnitude and the mesh patch matching-error are integrated into the criteria of the mesh nodes forward tracking. Finally on account of mesh nodes motion vectors the motion compensation function is implemented by mesh mapping. Experimental results prove that the proposed method improves the efficiency of motion compensation in video coding.
