Abstract: After four decades’ development, global CAD industry has become more and more mature. The paper first analyses current spectrum of global CAD industry. CAD products and service vendors are categorized into three different market segments—PLM solution providers, specific application providers and CAD component developers. Then mainstream CAD companies and their products, such as Dassault Systemes, EDS/Unigraphics, PTC, Autodesk, and SolidWorks are briefly introduced. The later portion of the paper dedicates itself to the introduction of some emerging CAD companies such as Lattice, ImpactXoft, and @Last, in relatively more detail. These products and related technologies they representing may not be well known today, but may become mainstream tomorrow.
