Abstract: History‚current research status and applications of geometric constraint solving are outlined. Four approaches to geometric constraint solving‚namely graph-based‚rule-based‚numerical computation-based and symbolic computation-based are described in detail.Some applications of geometric constraint solving in the fields of computer vision‚linkage design‚robotics‚molecular conformation design and computer aided instruction etc.are illustrated.
