Abstract: A compact and efficient method called MRM for representing multi-resolution models is presented．MRM can encode all the mesh simplification or refinement process based on edge collapse and vertex split．Applying MRM ，we implemented a multi-resolution modeling and editing system，which can control the resolution of graphical models and support selective mesh refinement or simplification in a unified manner．
