Abstract: A comprehensive survey of the research and recent developments of video based human motion capture (HMC) is presented.The various approaches of HMC are classified into two categories:Top-down category and Bottom-up category.The approaches in each category are described and their principles and technical characteristics are summarized.Finally,the open issues and technical trends of HMC are discussed.
