Abstract: Shape preservation of parametric curves is associated with normalized total positivity of its basis functions. Using a corner-cutting algorithm, we prove that one family of the Said-Bézier type generalized Ball (SBGB) bases is normalized totally positive (NTP). An example shows that another family of the Wang-Said type generalized Ball (WSGB) bases is not TNP.
