Abstract: This paper presents the advances of research in mesh generation for finite element computation in last ten years. Firstly, the advanced of the common methods such as mapping methods, grid-based methods （include finite quadtree/octree methods）, Delaunay triangulation and AFT methods are emphasized ；secondly, the main research fields such as surface meshing, all-hex meshing and parallel mesh generation are discussed in detail ；finally, the trends of mesh generation are presented briefly.
