Abstract: Window system is a system software which controls bitmap display and input devices. In this paper, we first describe the development of window system, and then emphasize on its user interface and internal structures which include kernel based structure as wellfas clients-server based structure.And we also describe the relations between the window system and graphic standard. At last, we discuss the state-of-art of window system standardization, and our viewpoints on the development of window system.
