Abstract:
We present a parameterization approach based on mesh simplification. The approach includes three main steps:first,we construct a boundary polygon triangulation by interpolation to boundary points, and then,in the second step we parameterize boundary points by simply flattening the boundary polygon triangulation. Finally, interior points are parameterized by a series of vertex-split operators. The approach can parameterize triangular mesh automatically and naturally. Moreover, the generated parameterization reflects the triangulation well. Since all of the calculation is locally processed, the algorithm runs in high efficiency.
